| Question:
how much to transport via medical helicopter a distance of 45 miles?
(not counting UCLA personnel or equipment)
Answer: $6600.
(The ambulance ride five miles to the helicopter was $700). Yep -
that's enough for me to fly to Israel and back 6 times! (Or
better, to fly to Israel 12 times). Or to put it another way, we
could sell our van in Israel twice and still not have enough
money (can you sell a vehicle twice? :-)). Or how about this one?
That's our gasoline budget for 8 years! (at $65/mo)
But it was necessary
to save his life, right? Well, at the point when they transferred
him, his heart was still such (from being in the womb) that there was no
manifestations of the problem (they would have likely shown up in the
next couple of days when a duct closed). And we drove to UCLA
after they took him by ambulance to the helicopter and we almost got
there before Timothy did!
Medical insurance
should cover the cost. (If it doesn't, maybe a couple of you want
to buy our van? :-)
