BiblePlaces Newsletter

Vol 18, #4 - September 10, 2019

I have always wanted to create more “Then and Now” photo collections. In a way it is not hard, as we have an extensive collection of photographs, and it’s “simply” a matter of matching them up. In reality, it’s a little bit harder than it looks, but our main challenge is that we are busy working on the Photo Companion to the Bible. But while we finish up the newest volumes, we are taking a quick break to share some fun comparison shots from Jerusalem, including Jaffa Gate, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and the Hinnom Valley.

It’s not so easy to show two contrasting shots in an email newsletter. You will be able to enjoy them better (and flip back and forth between them) in a PowerPoint presentation. So that’s what we have created. We are going to break our norm of including images in the newsletter because the PowerPoint is just so much better. The presentation is free and just one click away.

Our Photo Companion resources continue to get very good reviews. Please consider adding a volume or two to your collection as well as telling friends, pastors, and teachers about them. Here is what is now available:

Old Testament: RuthEstherPsalm 23, and Daniel

New Testament: MatthewMarkLukeJohn, and Acts

A sneak peak: Joshua and Romans (PowerPoint) – coming soon…

All of our collections are available on DVD as well as for immediate download. Our new webstore has some great improvements, and shipping is still free in the US.

Featured BiblePlaces Photos:
Jerusalem, Then and Now

The featured photos this month provide contrasting views of various scenes in Jerusalem from the 19th and early 20th centuries. This set includes photos of the Western Wall, the Dome of the Rock, Jaffa Gate, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Hinnom Valley, and more. The photos come from a variety of sources, including the Pictorial Library of Bible Lands and the Historic Views of the Holy Land. These then-and-now comparison photos are best viewed in a free PowerPoint.
