Stunning . . . highly engaging

“The Prophets are saturated with references to people, places, structures, animals, minerals, and vegetation from the ancient Near East and modern readers can easily miss the significance of these things. This stunning collection of high-resolution photos, arranged across the book of Haggai, closes that gap by putting the ancient world in front of the reader’s eyes rather than leaving it to the imagination. From the material culture of the Persian period to the everyday realities of harvest, drought, and temple construction, these images help readers rightly picture what Haggai’s audience would have seen and known. It is highly engaging, and I plan to use many of these photos in my own teaching.”
